These are some of the most highly handcrafted Japanese chopsticks using traditional Japanese lacquer. About 20 layers of Urushi lacquer made from sap of the Sumac tree are used. Each layer is
applied and then almost sanded bare to make a fine finish. Then the next layer and so forth until the exquisite finish is achieved. This process takes about 2 months. A rare and truly wonderful piece of handmade art. Round rough hewn profile handle. Rough hewn tips. The chopsticks have a base of Natak (Manilkara kauki), harvested in Brazil. The handle is coated with a Polyester protective finish and the tip in natural Urushi lacquer finish. 9 inches long. Handmade in Japan.
