The special Kenzuri chopsticks are hand shaped to a rough hewn finish. The 9.25 inch pair is made of Ebony. The shorter 8.25 inch pair is made of Manikara. Entirely finished with natural Urushi lacquer. The rough hewn shape provides a pleasing grip when holding the chopsticks making them easier to handle. The lid has a hex design with patterns and owls. The inside Japanese text reads “Thank you. Owls are birds that raise their young in the same pair every year, just like chopsticks that make a set of two. It has long been loved as a symbol of a happy married life. May the owl bring you lots of happiness.” The additional text describes the translation for “Owl” as “Fukuro” and the different symbolisms of “Fukuro” being “no hard work, grow old happily, a basket filled with good luck, a happy life, and a fortune is coming.” Hand made in Obama, Japan.
