Elegant chopsticks that embody serenity. The Tenka Akebono Wakasa chopsticks are black and dark red layered showing beautiful streaks of subtle color. There's a Tensoge angled bevel at the handle end. The handles have an almost octagon shape. The chopsticks have a base of Malas wood (Homalium tomentosum), harvested in Indonesia. They have an Acrylic protective finish. Chopsticks are 9.125 inches long with lightly textured tips. Hand made in Obama, Japan on the shores of Wakasa Bay.

I've had these for over a year, and they've held up very well to regular use and cleaning as instructed. Like the other reviewer has stated, they're 8-sided, but very smooth and not at all uncomfortable to hold. While the design is not as vibrant as some others, the reddish-brown streaks pop out from the black very nicely.

These function very well and are pleasing to the eye, quiet, and beautifully finished. Not perfectly round, these are 6 or 8 sided with very soft edges that are comfortable. As I was looking for something simpler/masculine than some of the more flowery designs...these matched that yet quietly, naturally display the beauty of the wood grain.
